So, for the past few weeks my car has been trying to stall when I am stopped at light and begins to sputter like it wants to stall and on occasion but not always it will take a few times to turn over when trying to start. My gas mileage is horrible, and my engine is sluggish but there is no check engine light or any messages popping up. Is it possible this could just be the relay or fuel filter? Because the car sat at the lot for 6 months before I purchased it. Being a female was the quote was ridiculously high to fix it. So, I just want to know how to fix it because I will do it myself.

It sounds like you may have a fuel pump going out, there is no fuel filter in this vehicle and there is a strainer inside the fuel tank that generally does not need to be replaced. Even though there are no codes I would run them anyway to see if any are stored, this will help guide us in the right direction on which way to go to fix it.

Also, if any engine tune up has not been done, I would start there and I would service the throttle body, here are two guides to help you see what you will be doing and the instructions for your car in the images below.

Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.

I'm kind of confused because my owner's book says that the fuel filter is underneath the front passenger side in front of the passenger tire. Is it lying to me? Because it's telling me that I have a fuel filter?

There must be some confusion, here is the information I have:

Yes, the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox does have a fuel filter, but it is integrated into the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank.

They have not had fuel filters on most cars for a few years now. Can you upload an image of the information you have?
