Long brake pedal travel and soft fading pedal.
Brakes have been serviced by brake specialist. Front rotors and pads replaced. Rear brake shoes renewed at same time. Fluid renewed pedal still the same.
Master cylinder replaced, no change.
Blogs found on net. Indicate it is a characteristic of this model series.
I am wanting to create a normal feeling hard pedal as in other cars that I have and have owned.
One blog suggests replacing the master cylinder with a 2011 series model M C. Claims to have rectified the problem.
Would love to hear your solution and if you have encountered this problem. Thanks

Can I ask if this vehicle has ABS? if so the ABS unit valve must be opened while bleeding to get the remainder of air out of the system this must be done with a scan tool.

This guide can help as well:

Please run down this guide and report back.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes the sprinter has ABS.
A professional brake and clutch specialist performed the brake service as described in my previous correspondence. I'm sure they would be aware of the bleed procedure for vehicles with ABS.
The soft pedal seems to be common in the 1998 to 2006 model sprinter and seems to be deemed acceptable but I would prefer quicker responsive breaking because in an emergency the delay in the long free play and soft feeling pedal could mean the difference in life and death.
This is a common problem as obvious by the number of blogs on the net.
Thanks.

I know some of the larger vehicles can feel strange when braking. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on?That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
