Hi,

When you say filler cap, are you referring to the fuel tank filler tube? If so, inspect for small rust holes or any evidence of corrosion that could have eaten through the steel.

Also, there will be a rubber hose between the filler tube and tank, check that for leaks as well.

Keep in mind, there are several Evap components around the fuel tank. If possible, check from the underside of the vehicle to tell approximately where it is coming from.

I attached a pic below showing the leak detection pump toward the front of the tank and many hoses related. Any of these can be leaking.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below Pic 2 shows what the filler tube looks like, so check anywhere it could rust and everything from the tank to the filler opening.

Smoke coming out by the filler cap in the fender well. I think there is a purge valve there, not sure if that is what it's called. I think that is where the smoke comes out. I also have smoke coming out of the throttle body.

Hi,

I know there is a vent there that is filtered. By chance, do you see the component in the pics I attached above?

Let me know, and I hope you had a nice Easter.

It is the picture of the filler neck with cap. Black object attached to the hose/pipe that allows you to put gas in the tank.

Okay, that is steel. It may have rusted and developed a few pinholes. Are you able to remove it and inspect for damage?

Let me know.

No rust or holes. Smoke coming from somewhere in fender well. What is the black canister looking thing that is about two inches in diameter? I think the smoke is coming from it.

Hi,

Does this appear to be the part you are referring to? If so, that is the vent filter. The OEM part number is listed in the pic.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

I did notice that as well. No, there shouldn't be smoke coming from it. It's a bit frustrating that you need to replace other things that are good, but I tried as well to find just the needed part, and it doesn't seem available by itself.

Let me know if it takes care of the issue.

Take care,

Joe

You too and it might be a couple weeks before I get the part and install it. I was going to tell you I built my own smoke machine for under $20.00.
