Hi,

My boyfriend has disconnected my smog pump but he cannot remove it from the car. He has removed the fender wall and headlight but it still won't come out. Any special trick to it maybe?

thank you

Looking at the diagrams it seems like you will need to remove the radiator? This guide will walk you through the steps.

Can you upload a picture or video of the trouble so we can see?

He finally ended up taking the smog pump apart to remove it from the car because we are replacing the pump with a new pump anyways. But thank you for the information because he will definitely take off the radiator to be able to put the new pump in. Sorry but can't really get a decent picture or video right now because of it being so dark outside.

Hello again.

I rechecked the guides and in addition to the pictures I sent you it just states to remove the radiator air baffle/deflector. That is on the bottom of the bumper and protects the underneath of the car/radiator. I've attached a picture of it below. With that being removed you should be able to remove the smog pump through the bottom of the air baffle/deflector through the opening. It doesn't say to remove radiator but if you do it's extra work but you will have more room-It's up to you. Here are the pictures below. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

So we ended up removing the smog pump and putting a new smog pump in but my check engine light came back on. So now I am wondering if I should replace the check valve next or the relay or if I should check the fuse or something like that. Thanks for your advice.

Hello again.

Do you happen to remember what the code number that came back on was? Here is a tutorial on how to check fuses:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

The fuse to check is labeled emissions 2. I've attached a picture below and circled in red. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.
