Sluggish to accelerate randomly but turning car off and on resets it

I know there are a lot of issues with this car, and the CVT transmission. I had the same problem last year with sluggish acceleration. I had codes for oil pressure sensor and something with solenoid. Code wound up disappearing and mechanic couldn’t replicate issue. Had it serviced with oil change (it was my daughter's car and way overdue) and the problem seemed to disappear. It’s back. The only code that can be pulled from scan is for the airflow actuator and that makes sense because there’s a piece that’s broken inside for it. But I feel like this is separate from that. It really is random that it’s sluggish. I’m using the car to Uber. The RPMs will go high to round between three and four. No higher than that and then immediately drop after it finally accelerates. It’s going in the shop this next week but I’m trying to get an idea what to have them look for first so that I don’t wind up with the necessary repairs that I really cannot afford.

Yes, we can help you; can you please give me the code number? Also, it sounds like you have a dirty throttle body or a clogged catalytic converter. Here is how to scan for codes and how to service the throttle body which when dirty can make the car go into limp mode:

Please run down these guides and report back.

P059? Needs another number please. Five digit codes. The code # p0776 is for the pressure control solenoid which is inside the transmission on the valve body. You may need to bet a rebuilt valve body to fix it. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Sorry it’s the P059f code. Active grill shutter. The solenoid code disappeared last year after I had some service done and hasn’t come back on. But didn’t know if it would be linked somehow to what I’m dealing with now. Will start with having throttle body checked.

P059f code - there is low air flow detected through the active grille shutters which could be the clue, if this is not working it will cause the engine to hard start and have low power. This image shows the actuator that needs to be replaced. Let me know.
