Slows down

For a while now when i make a left turn the car slows down like it is trying to pick up gas then it takes about five seconds then it picks up speed again.

Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running? Next, is there any rattling from the exhaust when the engine is running or when this happens? One other thing, after driving the vehicle, take notice if either if the front wheels seems hotter than the other side.
