Slow acceleration

When setting off or going out of a situation and needs to quickly take off, it hesitates. Worst is, when it changes gear, you will have to press the accelerator pedal to the floor before it picks, with an unpleasant sound. Yet it will be slow still.

Good afternoon.

From your description, it sounds like it could be a couple of things.

The first thing I would do is check the fuel pressure.

The other thing is the catalytic converter. I would have that checked for being clogged and not allowing the engine to breathe.

Wow. These are the exact things I worked on recently. I changed my fuel pump two weeks ago. My catalytic converter was worked on two days ago, yet it persist. The catalytic converter that was worked on was the front one. I have feeling the one under (by the arm rest )should be checked too. That said, you answer is extremely helpful.

I would remove the front O2 sensor and install a back pressure gauge. Then start the engine and check the back pressure. It should be around 1. If it is not then you have an exhaust restriction.

You can rent a tester at a parts store for this procedure.
