It gets stuck at the end and won't slide back unless I help it by pushing it forward a bit. Is this a common problem with these vans? A d does it require the bottom chain assembly to be changed?

Yep, this happens when the door closing module gets weak and needs to be replaced. Here is how the job is done in the images below. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Unfortunately, replaced the whole mechanism plus the lower hinge which connects door to mechanism, same closing issue. We get hung up on the latch. Opens better but if you hold the have and unlatch it it takes longer than it should to start sliding. Once you want to close it this is what happens. Are there any adjustments to the bracket on end which has 2 screws and basically hoods the door once its full open?

Thanks for the videos, it looks like the door is getting hung up in the last video you sent, like the latch is not clearing which causes the door to think there is something in the way. If you help the latch past the safety does it seem to work okay? Here is the adjustment instructions which could help fix the adjustment problem.

NOTE:
For power sliding door procedures refer to POWER SLIDING DOOR SYSTEM in the ELECTRICAL section.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the appropriate side door trim panel. (Refer to 23 - Body/Doors - Sliding/PANEL, Door Trim - Removal).
Remove outside handle access hole grommet.

CAUTION:
Make note of cable routing. This will prove helpful when reinstalling replacement cable. Be certain replacement cable is routed and retained correctly.

Disconnect the outside handle cable from the handle assembly. Gently pry cable sleeve retainer out of the handle bracket and then unhook swedged cable end from the handle.
Remove the door module assembly. (Refer to 23 - Body/Doors - Sliding/PLATE, Carrier - Removal).
Trace the outside handle cable along its routing path.
Disconnect the outside handle cable from the latch assembly. Gently pry cable sleeve retainer out of the latch mounting bracket and then unhook swedged cable end from the latch lever.
Remove the outside handle cable from the side door.

POWER SLIDING DOOR ADJUSTMENT
In order for the power sliding door system to function properly the door must move freely and smoothly. The power sliding door system can accommodate for some minor changes in the effort required to move the door. However, in extreme conditions the door may need to be mechanically adjusted for proper fit. (Refer to 23 - Body/Doors - Sliding/DOOR, Sliding/Adjustments).

If a problem exists with the power sliding door and it is suspected to be extreme effort, check for proper door alignment and adjustment first, then check the door tracks and drive unit for free manual operation. (Refer to 23 - Body/Doors - Sliding/DOOR, Sliding/Adjustments) for detailed instructions.

Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

If I help the handle to keep the latch off of the stopper it closes. The closure is not 100% as you see in the video but at least it moves.
