Slave cylinder/push rod

Hi,

Was the clutch master cylinder or slave replaced? As far as the pushrod, if you can only move it 1/8 of an inch, something isn't together correctly, something before the slave is plugged solid (pinched line), or the MC has internal damage.

First, take a look at pic 1 below. Those are the bleeding procedures from Ford for this vehicle. See if that is what you have done.

The remaining pictures are the directions for the removal and replacement of the clutch master cylinder. Take a look through them and see if you have missed something.

I do have one more question. You indicated bench bleeding all the air out of the clutch MC and then it got to a point you could no longer depress the pushrod. I have never seen that happen. Even if there is no air in the unit, you should still be able to actuate it. The only difference would be there is no air coming out and only fluid. Please explain.

Okay, thank you. I got it. Clutch plate is bad as I was able to install the bench bled system and then I bled the slave cylinder. I had my wife push on the pedal as I looked in the transmission access square saw the slave engaging but the truck won't go in gear and the pedal is spongey. Before I started this the clutch would slip bad. Until it wouldn't work at all. I was just hoping it was air in the line like before. Thank you, you're awesome.

You are very welcome. If you plan to replace the clutch and pressure plate, I attached the directions below. I would also replace the release bearing and make sure the flywheel is in good condition.

Also, if you have a rear main oil seal leak, this is the time to replace it as well.
