In 1st gear when accelerating there is a shuttering feeling as the engine passes 3,000 RPMs, it can be avoided by shifting early however shifting too early will result in the same shuttering being felt upon engaging 2nd gear.

(Sometimes the shuttering around 3,000 RPMs can be felt in 3rd however it is significantly less noticeable)

What could be causing this?

Hi,

Does this only happen in first and second gear? Have you ever noticed it in a different gear? It could be related to the clutch is why I ask.

Also, it does have some miles on it, there could be a bearing issue in the transmission or drive train that is noticeable in lower gears.

Do me a favor. First, make sure the transmission fluid is both clean and full, and let me know what you find.

I attached a pic showing where the fill plug is located. It is highlighted. The bolt with the X on it is the drain, so don't open that one unless you plan to change the fluid.

Let me know what you find. Also, let me know if there are any noises when you experience this.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Let me know what you find. Often, manual transmissions aren't serviced, so that could be an issue.

Take care,

Joe
