Shudder when braking

Front near side shudder under braking.
Replaced disks and pads and after a month it started again.
Upon service Mercedes Benz said wheel was buckled and wanted £500. So took to wheel specialist who said it wasn’t at all buckled.
Sometimes she shudders on light breaking sometimes don’t, sometimes on heavy breaking mostly but rarely don’t.
When cold or first drive her it’s just about unnoticeable until 5 minutes driving or so. Something it’s straight away.

Any ideas please.

This is either the rotors and hubs have some rust build up in between them. If this is not cleaned when the rotors are replaced they will vibrate at times.

The other thing it could be is rust build up on the rotors themselves. There is a TSB out for that which I attached.

Did they replace the rotors or did they resurface them? If this did not happen for a month after their replacement, I am thinking you possibly overheated them. Are you a heavy brake driver? Meaning do you brake hard when coming to a stop? Clearly there are times that we need to brake hard but if this is a common occurrence then the rotors will actual get hot and warp. Once this happens they will vibrate under different situations.

Hi.
And thanks for the reply.
I will admit that I don’t actually know the answer to that but I will ask as it will no doubt need to go back to him.
They are a good garage tho as they do a lot of work for my boss’s company and carry a good name.

But what I will say is that when he did replace the pads them selves he said that both pads had little wear on them and only a very slight warp in that one near side disk front wheel.

I understand your analogy of the disks and it’s to be expected as the nature of the tell tale fault being “shudder under breaking” but I can honestly say that I still have new car syndrome lol. Meaning I drive her professionally like I do my lorry. Out of habit more than anything, but also due to experience and not being able to trust other toad users. So I do drive carefully.
And tbh with the c250 I’ve found that if u leave enough room from the car Infront u don’t actually need to break most of the time as at high speeds ( motorway ) it slows itself down if u are off the accelerator long enough. Almost like an engine break ( retarder ) through the transmission.

Saying that tho. Of course I have had to break harshly with her at times due to nature of driving. Bad habits and road users. But in general she is well driven and looked after.

I have had this discussion with a previous mechanic whom also said I could be driving her too hard.
But on the other hand an alternative mechanic also stated that I would need to be doing some serious hardcore racing style driving to warp new disks so quick from new.

And that’s just not what has been happening.
From here I guess I will have to ask about rotors and hubs.

I wonder tho out of curiosity if that it may of been a pot hole development over time. Something more deeper then original thought of damage like disks.

And lastly if I’m completely honest the car has always had a slight shudder when breaking but was only initial on motorway breaking.

Over time it’s developed into continuous But at random, mainly/ mostly through breaking.

Originally, whilst in warranty I raised this concern with MB. But they denied any wrong doing and assured me I’m wrong through proof of their quality used car check, service and what ever else before sale.

Based on that, I doubt it is caused by your braking habits. Sounds like there is a runout issue. I would ask them to get the runout measurements of the rotors and hubs.
