showing an engine logo on the dashboard

it happened when I slowed down at a bump, whereby I tried to re accelerate was not changing to the next gear. then showed the sign and returned to normal but with the sign remaining on The dashboard.

kindly assist.

An error was detected by the engine computer and it went into limp mode thus not allowing you to accelerate. The Check is the Malfunction Indicator Light and is turned on by the engine computer to tell you something is wrong.

You need a scan tool to retrieve the trouble code to find out what went wrong and repair accordingly..
