Hello,

I’m not quite sure if this is considered “normal”, or if it’s just my imagination and there really is no need for concern. Also sorry if this gets long winded.

I have the car listed above bought new 4/26/19, just under a year old. After about 3-4 months after I bought it that when coasting while coming to a stop light/sign or a change of speed limit and not hitting the brakes the car feels like it jerks? From second to first gear, you can’t hear anything and there is no drastic change in RPM's but you can physically feel it. I told the Hyundai mechanic of my concern during a oil change appointment and after checking noted the car ran normal and just reset the computer.

Recently, I can’t say how long it may have been happening, it could have been there since day one but I just started to notice in the past month or so and it only happens on occasion not constantly. Anyways, when accelerating to pass changing third to fourth gear I feel a slight surge right about 4500 RPM's and right before the gear change. It’s not terrible but you can at times free a slight hiccup. Looking at the RPM's it seems to happen at the 4500 RPM mark when it does happen and if there is a change of RPM's during the minor surge I feel that is only slight as well, maybe if anything it’s only 50-100 RPM change but that too is only barely noticeable.

I’m not sure if I’m just being paranoid and overly concerned, as I had a 2014 Sentra as a company car with constant issues, or if there can be a larger problem developing?

Thank you

It is hard to compare this vehicle to the other because they are very different. However, I would suggest taking a mechanic from the dealership on a test drive just to show them. Then ask that they check to make sure the control modules are up to date. Just from what you are describing it is hard to say it is normal because the way you are getting it to act up is not "normal" driving. So at the very worst, they will tell you it is normal and there are no updates but the issue will be documented if your fears are true. Then if this happens, you need to take it back if the issue gets any worse. If it stays the same and doesn't change then it is normal.

I know it is not the best answer because it is always best when we have a definitive answer but due to this being a new vehicle, I suspect this will be corrected with a software issue. The reason I say this is I have seen many issues very similar to this on other vehicles where it is corrected.
