I have replaced the clutch in transmission and had to take shifter out of transmission itself I am trying to replace the shifter back in transmission but I cannot get it to seat all the way in. What am I doing wrong? It is the unit that the linkage is attached to on the bell housing.

Hmm, this car has cables no shifter inside the transmission. Here is what I show. Can you send pictures of what you are talking about?
