How do you replace the shift solenoids?

You will need to remove the transmission pan and the shift solenoids will be in the valve body. Here is a generic guide on how to remove the pan and I have left a couple of diagrams of the shift solenoids in the diagrams below.

Thank you, Ken. But I should have been more specific. It was the actual removal of the A and B shift solenoids I needed help with the roll pins. I figured it out by using a nail in the center so as not to crush them and twisting with vise large vise grips. But there seems to be something still holding them in place. Perhaps I need to bend down the metal retainer around them? Thanks in advance for your help. Chuck.

Hi Chuck, that doesn't show this in any repair manual but I can help you if you can take pictures and upload them here, I can help you fix it.

The two holes are where I removed the roll pins that held the solenoids in place, but they still don’t come out. What am I missing?

Thanks for the pics, these are held in by O rings which can get hard and make them difficult to remove, also that metal tang between the solenoids, does that pull straight up? That might be holding them in as well. Let me know.
