Shift solenoids location

Automatic transmission will not go into drive or reverse nor second or third gear just revs up rpm's.

That does not sound like a shift solenoid issue to the shift solenoids are under the transmission side cover that faces the drivers wheel.The left drive axle goes right through the side cover.
