Gear shift lever stuck in reverse

I towed car to mechanic shop mechanic check everything according to mechanic steering column is bad. when I visit dealer for part they said not possible to go bad steering column. maybe shifter cable is bad, but I check at workshop when mechanic release cable from top to shifter cable is working in 3 ways means cable move to RND not move to P but shifter not move.

Hi,

Are you sure they aren't referring to the park interlock cable release? That won't prevent it from shifting once it is out of park.

Also, is this a column or floor shift?

Mechanic check cable is good. problem in column not in floor shift.

Cable is moving but lever is stuck.

If that cable moves and the shifter lever doesn't, the column needs replaced. The column linear shift assembly is not serviceable. I wish I had better news.
