Shakes and cuts off engine when at stop in drive, code p0234

The vehicle is shaking and eventually shutting of when I stop whilst in drive or reverse.i am forced to quickly put the vehicle in neutral to avoid the shacking and cut off of the engine . I tried to get codes and the only codes picked was p0234. At Hyundai a test drive was done and the tester said it should be a sensor between the gear box and flywheel failing to modulate the raves and most probably new gear box need as a second hand or replacement part will be not guaranteed.
Please assist.

I am not sure why they would recommend a gearbox for this code. Maybe they know something I am not seeing in your post but this code is for a turbo over-boost condition. This would cause the engine to shake and could cause other larger issues. If this were my vehicle, I would probably seek a second opinion and if they come back with the same as the other shop then you can feel confident about it. If not then either go with what makes more sense or seek a third. Basically, what I am hearing points to an engine issue which could be a sensor but again, I am not sure how the gearbox relates to what you described and the code.

I saw on other reported of people that went through the same and say it was EGR . some say their gearboxes were opened but problem was not resolved up until EGR was cleaned or replaced. Please advise if the EGR may have the same problems.

Yes. This can cause it but the main cause of this issue is soot. Diesels produce a large amount of soot and the EGR can get gummed up and requires cleaning. It can definitely cause the symptoms you are experiencing but the over boost code is limited pretty much to the turbo. I would remove the EGR and inspect it for soot. It should look like black dry and powdery flour. If it is caked on and moist at all, this is oil and we need to find out why there is oil in the exhaust. This is a sign of a larger issue. I would clean it and replace then test again. It may solve the running condition but the over boost code may remain.

The EGR was cleaned yesterday,the power improved,I am still experiencing the engine stalling or cutting off when breaks are applied. The engine check light is still on as well.
After the EGR cleaning a fault check was done, the over boosting p0234 code was picked and had air inflow problem.

So we are going to need to follow the testing for that code but remove the boost pressure sensor by the inter-cooler and make sure it is clean. It could have soot on it as well and if this is the case it will cause this issue.
