I purchased the vehicle listed above LTZ used from a local dealership in October of last year 2021.

This past weekend I drove it on interstate for 5 hours and where I stayed, I had to park on a very steep incline. Because of the steep incline I did use the E-brake. Not sure this has anything to do with the issue.

After my stay I returned home on my 5-hour drive and shortly after getting onto the interstate the Service Trailer Brake System warning came on and it continued the entire trip. The times it would come up intermittently.

I was not driving in rain, and I have not even used the trailer pin connector.

So, I am not sure how to best troubleshoot.

I understand some resolved by replacing the date trailer brake module.

Hi,

The best thing to do in this case is to scan the can-bus system. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the modules/computers are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that shows how it is done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done. It should point you in the right direction to identify why the light is coming on.

Let me know Also, let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Did you check for codes? I'm not sure what the scanner is able to do. The reason I ask to have the can-bus scanned is that there are different issues that can turn on that indicator.

Take a look at pic 1 below and you'll see what I mean. If I knew which code or codes were stored, I could help you through the diagnostics. Without the code, it becomes a guessing game.

Let me know if you can have that done or if your scanner can provide C and U type codes.

Let me know.

Joe
