My A/C locked up and burnt my belt up. can I bypass the A/C compressor with a shorter belt?

Hello,

You can route a belt (shorter one), bypassing the A/C compressor, and the belt does not make contact with the A/C pulley then it will be just fine.

In order to figure out the belt size, the best option would be to run rope/string the same way the belt would run, bypassing the A/C compressor and measure the string. Then use that length to get the correct size belt.

The issue might be is that when you try to do the belt will rub against the A/C pulley.
