I am going to change the serpentine belt and the two pulleys shown in the pictures. Any chance I could get the procedures for the belt/pulley change and torque specs for the bolts that hold the pulleys to the engine? I have a gear wrench serpentine belt tool to accomplish the job as well. Most concerned with the torque for the two pulleys when I go to install them on the car. I am changing the pulleys since the car has 115,000 miles and now would be a great time to do it since I have seen many of these failing on internet video blogs.

Hi,

It looks like the idler and tensioner pulleys. For some reason, there are no torque specifications listed for them. Also, the manual also doesn't have the directions for the removal and replacement. However, I will try my best to help.

First, as I feel you already are aware, the serpentine belt needs to be removed. If you are only replacing the pulley and bearing for the tensioner, you can remove it without the removal of the tensioner. It's just tight to work on.

The idler is straightforward. Since we don't have the torque specs, what I recommend is using Loctite. Tighten it approximately 30 ft/lbs and place Loctite on the threads prior to installing the bolts. That should be tight enough and the Loctite should prevent it from coming loose.

I feel really bad that I don't have the specifics you needed. However, as you are doing the job, please feel free to ask me questions if you have them.

The two pics below are for belt replacement.

Take care,

Joe

Joe,

Thank you for your response. I have the belt and the two pulleys, and with your suggestion, I feel I am ready to tackle the pulleys and belt. I appreciate your advice with the Loctite. Your suggestions are just what I need to feel confident. Thanks again. I will let you know how it works out.
