The AC went out now the car will not start. Can the serpentine belt be bought in a smaller size to bypass the AC? If so what size belt should be bought?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

In all honesty, chances are you cannot eliminate it and then determine a good way to route it. What I suggest is to get an AC bypass pulley. Basically, it takes the place of the compressor and the same belt is used and routed the same way.

I attached a picture of one I got online for you to see. These can be purchased at most parts stores. A company called Dorman is one of the most widely known aftermarket manufacturers and they do make one for your car. If you call a parts store, just ask for an AC bypass pulley for your specific vehicle. Please do not quote me, but I think the Dorman part number may be 34190. Please confirm that is the one for your vehicle before ordering.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
