My car stalled out and wouldn’t start. I replaced the alternator and the serpentine belt. When I first put the new belt on with the new alternator, the car started up fine but the belt wasn’t rotating around the pulleys. So I took the belt off and repositioned it around the pulleys because I thought I had it on wrong. Now the car doesn’t start anymore.

Hi,

Was the belt originally positioned correctly and still not turning? Also, when you say it doesn't start, do you mean the starter motor isn't operating or it does, but the engine fails to run?

If the starter isn't working, take a look through this link. It explains how to check one.

If the starter does work, review this link. It describes the most common causes of a crank no start condition.

Let me know as much as you can. Also, let me know if the original belt broke which could have damaged the wiring.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Joe
