I was driving around a curve, I noticed that is was hard to steer. I looked at my guages. The battery light went on. Its(3 months old) then the temperture guage showed. 20 mins earlier I was normal. The trip was about 150 miles. Put on a new serpentine belt, jumped battery (left hazzards on all night.
The serpentine belt fell or slipped off on 2nd try it did the same thing. The prior belt had normal wearand was all in one piece. What could be the problem? Thank you. LindaScheckel.

This is thwe first problem I've had w the van since I boughtb it 3 yrs ago at original 62,000 miles

One of the pulleys is tipped, turned, or loose and wobbling. It takes very little to make the belt track off-center and pop off. First feel each pulley to see if one is sloppy. Mostly that affects idler and tensioner pulleys. Next, sight down the pulleys and look for one where the belt is not inline with where it runs around pulleys above and below it. Even 1/16" out-of-line is not acceptable. Check the crankshaft pulley to see if the vibration damper is coming apart.
