Seized engine

On two separate occasions, the car suddenly stopped, but after a few minutes, it restarted. There was no noise or overheating associated with the stalls. The car was taken to a garage and no problems could be found. The last time the car stalled, it would not restart and had to be towed. The car failed to start. It was towed to a garage and diagnosed with a seized engine. The car was towed back home and has no power at all. This car has low miles. It was owned by an older lady and driven about once a week. It will cost about $3,500.00 to fix. Oh, it also has some corrosion underneath. Does this diagnosis sound right to you? Should I fix it? If the engine was seizing, why did it start those two times? Good afternoon,

To be sure, see if you can turn the engine by hand. You could grab the belt area and should be able to rotate the engine. If not, then it is seized.

Why is a hard question to answer? The engine would have to be broken down to find the area of failure.
