My truck was stolen and the ignition busted. Now I am trying to get it to start. It was starting and shutting off after two to three seconds, now it is not even turning over. Security/bypass?

Hello,

So the million dollar question is this: Does your security light stay on when you try to start the truck? If so, here is a link on common ways to reset a security system. Also, if you have the theft-lock package and the factory radio, the radio would not work either.

Hope this helps! Thanks for using 2CarPros!

My husband says it does not, but I am not exactly sure because now it will not even turn over. I do believe my next step is going to be to replace the ignition switch then go from there. I believe that when they busted it that they may have completely messed the tumblers up in it.

Will the engine crank over? Lets start by checking the fuses. Here is a guide to help us get started along with the fuse locations:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Have checked all fuses and relays. Replaced ignition switch, and wiring harness, still no change, yes it will crank over but will not run it starts and dies instantly. No security light and no codes set. But it acts like the passlock has triggered. Only thing I have left to do is replace the ignition lock housing and hope and pray that fixes my problem.

I have seen at the ignition switch the one of the two small wires breaks at the tumbler causing this issue. Here are diagrams to help you confirm the issue. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.
