How do you reset security after replacing lock cylinder and ignition?

Because you have changed the lock cylinder itself you need to use a dealer level scan tool to program in the replacement keys into the PATS hardware. The procedure that used the original keys to program a new key will not work as you need to be able to turn the ignition on and off with the key during the process and with a different key cut you cannot do that.

No programming is necessary if just the ignition lock cylinder is replaced, unless you are replacing it because you want a new set of keys due to theft, new owner, etc.
