The secondary air intake valve was replaced a few months ago. The air pump can be heard running even after the car is turned off. It drained the battery completely over night. We have to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Is this a mechanical or electrical problem and can we repair it ourselves? Thank you!

see if it's a bad relay corroded or staying on first then check for a bad solenoid. Here is a guide to help check it with the air pump relay location below.
