secondary air pump keep running

after i started my car in the mornings the secondary air pump use to go on for a min or so but now it keep on running until my batt goes flat can i just diconect it and what is it function will it harm my car

it has a function and it add oxygen to the exhaust when cold for burning rich fuel in the exhaust.

the control for it whether the relay or the pcm is keeping it on and needs to be checked for the failed part.

do not disconnect it.
