Serial no VIN R 8th Digit.

i want to know what do I have to do to put
the engine for the same car as mine but a 2004 v6 2.7 with serial no VIN T 8th Digit in stead. Since there are two types of engines what do I have to do to put the engine in
with the serial no VIN T 8th Digit in stead of the VIN R 8th digit?

Thank you

Hi Sylvain,

Just so I am getting this right, you are going from a 2003 with an R to a 2004 engine with a T?

If that is correct, the difference in the engines is the R is an MPI engine and the T is flex fuel.

The engine may bolt in but it is the electronics and wiring harness that you need to worry about.

I checked the two main modules and they are different. The OEM part number for the PCM with MPI engine (what you currently have) is R4896681AB. The FFV engine is R5142304AA. These are both NGC controllers but clearly they contain different programming.

As for engine wiring harnesses, the one in your vehicle looks to be 05087005AB. The one for the flex fuel is the same part number as long as the vehicle it is coming from has a current generation engine controller (sales code NCZ). If it has next generation module (sales code NZD), then the wiring harness part number is 05087002AB.

Long story short, at the very least, you are going to need the wiring harness and PCM possibly the TCM off of the flex fuel vehicle. However, you CANNOT take the modules with the other VIN. You are going to need to take the VIN from the other vehicle and order the parts that would go to that and then install them in your vehicle and program your VIN into them or they will not work. When you do this, you will need your SKIM code in order to program the PCM as the secret key will need to be backed up in the PCM in the event you replace your SKIM module.

Let me know what else you need and I will try to help.
