Engine Mechanical problem
2006 Scion tC 4 cyl Automatic

The other day I was driving around, and my check engine light came on, my car idled at about 4rpm, slows down, and cut off. At that time, my battery lamp, and my oil lamp both kick on. I come to a complete stop, wait few seconds, and crank my car back up. At that point, I had no other problems. The check engine light was on for a couple more days, and then it went back out. A couple days later, the same thing happened again, and this time the problem got a lil worse, now some things on the inside of my car are not working. My passenger side window wont go down, when I tried to put the driver side window down, it would only go down as long as I was holding it down, and my sunroof was a lil slow to respond when I tried to close it. I am currently stationed overseas, and there isnt a scion dealership out here. Do you have any suggestions as of to what the problem may be?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Hi HelloKitty06,

Thank you for the donation.

When the CEL comes on, an error has been detected iby the engine management system. You would need a scan done to retrieve for trouble codes to understand what is wrong.

As the problem is intermittent, it could be a loose wire connections somewhere but diagnostics have to be done to locate the source.

Without the scan, it would be impossible to diagnose the problem. You can try Toyota dealers, they might be able to help with the scan if you are not able to find one to use.
