I am replacing my alternator. I removed both mounting bolts. How do i loosen the belt tension to remove the part & how would i tighten the tension after i replace it.

Hello - Here is a pic.......there is a bolt or nut that you put the wrench on and it appears you push clockwise.......this is held with a spring so gently push clockwise and the pulley should move away from the belt..........then remove the belt and gently move it back into position. 1. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT a. Using SST, loosen the V-ribbed belt tensioner arm clockwise, then remove the fan and generator V belt. SST 09249-63010 NOTE: "¢ Be sure to connect SST and the tools so that they are in line when using. "¢ When retracting the tensioner, turn it clockwise slowly in 3 seconds or more. Do not apply force rapidly. "¢ After the tensioner is retracted all the way, do not apply force any more than necessary.

Hello - Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.
