Hye GREGORY,

Yes it not to bad to replace the alternator, you must start by disconnecting the battery. Here is a guide and some diagrams to help you get the job done.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-an-alternator

GENERATOR REPLACEMENT

1. Turn the ignition OFF.

IMPORTANT: Record all pre-set radio stations.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.
5. Install the engine support fixture.
6. Remove the front of the engine mount through bolt and raise the engine for proper clearance.

7. Disconnect the generator electrical connections.

8. Remove the generator to engine block bolts and the generator.
There's the instruction's it's not that hard.

Please let us know what happens so it will help others

Best, Ken

I am trying to remove alternator I have disconnected motor mount on passenger side I try to lift engine but after an inch or so the front end of car lifts I do not see how I can get more clearance for removing alternator, think remove pulley or roller on tension-er but is it left or right hand thread I use a wrench to lift tension-er but some information on web says only J35A6 is the only engine with left hand thread I am afraid to break it. Do you have any suggestions on how to get a little more room for removal?

I was only wondering how to remove because lifting engine did not give me enough room to pull out alternator, so I ended up cutting the corner of the panel behind the headlight approx 2 inch apart and bent it in, it came out and made an easy to replace the new one

My guys used to remove the torque mount and use the vehicle to roll the engine forward this gave them enough room to remove he alternator.

Let me know if this works.
