my car starts running hot only when sitting still at red lights or drive thrus what could be causing ti to do this because the temp hand drops back down when i start moving again

Sound's like your radiator fan isn't coming on.Does your a/c work if so turn it on and see if your radiator fan come's on with your a/c if it does let me know.
