After driving for a few minutes, the car shuts down as if it had run out of gas. Ater sitting for a few minutes, the car will run smoothly again... And them the same "shutting down" episode happens again. The battery, alternater, and starter all check out fine. The mechanic seems to think it's a computer problem. I would like to get a second opinion. Thank you.

Last thing I would suspect is the computer. Next time it stall's and doesn't start take off two plug wire's off the coils that are right next to each other then have someone crank the engine over while you watch for spark jumping between the two coil post's. The wire's are bolted down so take the bolt's out so can remove them when it happens. My thought's are you have a bad crank shaft sensor but we need to do a couple of test's before we get there.
