My son has a Saturn that he bought used. I know that he changes his oil every 3000 miles and checks it in between. It seems every time he checks it between oil changes most of the oil is gone! There is no oil leaking from the engine but there seems to be what looks like oil in the tail pipe. What do you think this might be? Is his engine blown? If he has to have the engine rebuilt because of an internal problem is it very costly and is there any other way of fixing the problem other than just adding oil every 500 miles or so?
Thank you so much.

Now if it is using not leaking the engine will need to be replaced and yes I would replace it as this will be cheaper the having the one in it rebuilt about 2200 or so for the engine itself. Now what I would do for now is next oil change or when it is a qt low put in a qt of lucas engine oil stabilizer this may slow down the oil usage to buy some time to save up for a replacement engine.

Try some engine seal products first. The rings might be sticking. Saturns are notorious for doing this. If you slow down oil consumption. You could buy yourself years of time.
