1998 Saturn SL2 Clicking sound under the glove box when HVA

sounds like ur blower fan is clicking thats in that area look on ur passenger side urnder ur dash u will see the motor unplug it and take the screws out there ethier 7mm or 5.5mm screws it could be the motor clicking or anything from leaves to a dead mouse i have seen french fry bags in there u name it.check it out and let me know what u find.

Thanks for your help saturntech9. I took down the fan motor and everything looked clear so I turned the fan switch on just to be curious and the clicking continued. It is coming from a small motor like part that controls the cover for the inside air. I found out what it was when my wife who was helping me pressed the inside air button and the vent door closed and the clicking stopped. When she pressed it again, the vent door opened, making a humming sound and then when the door was completely open, it made the clicking sound constantly until either we shut the fan switch off, or pressed the inside air button on. I am assuming that part needs to be replaced but....ummmm....how do I get to it?

yeah the most common thing i have seen was the blower motor making noise.u have a rare problem havent seen many of those recirculation actuators making noise the way they work is they get power to go one way or the other and shut them selves off when they encounter the pressure at there stop.you ethier have a broke door or bad actuator or a bad actuator that broke the door.lets start by taking a look at the door.ok to get the door in the middle of ur dash theres two screw covers pop those off remove the two 7mm screws then get a good size flat blade screwdriver and start with one side of the edge of the dash facing u and carefully insert the screwdriver into the edge of the dash and twist the screwdriver to pop the retaining clip then work down untill u have popped all the clips becareful not break the clips sometimes they just due to age dont do it on a real hot day though.once that u have that up on the other side it get slides out but becareful of the vin plate it will catch on the dash where the vin slot is u can lift it up on it there to clear it.ok on passenger side above the glove box u should be able to see it.let me know what u find.
