1997 Saturn SL2 Transmission Leaks

My friend has a 1997 Saturn SL2, and he says it leaks transmission fluid rapidly after it reaches a certain level. Otherwise the transmission still works great, but it leaks so bad he doesen't drive it. What could it be?

What do u mean when it reaches a certain level?Temperture?What area does it leak from I need alot more details even pics would help alot. Iam sorry Iam not there to see where it's leaking from there's a common place they leak from but they don't pour out leaking like ur describing.I would also check to see if the transmission filter is loose and leaking it screws on like a oil filter. Let me know what u find.
