My mechanic friend put the saturn sl2 on the rack , and said it looked like the fluid was leaking from the bell housing. I seen online some people's problems were a loose filter , but he said he didn't see a filter, unless it's in the bell housing. Any suggestions ? does my manual transmission have a filter , and what else should I look for ?

The filters loose and leaking are on the automatic transmissions.if u have a leak on a manual transmission in the bell housing area most likely ur leak is comming from the quill bearing.it's where ur input shaft comes thru the bell housing and ur throw out bearing slides on the outside of it.that's where I have seen the most leaks come from leaks in that area.only problem is u would have to remove the transmission or slid it back to see if it's leaking from there.let me know if u have anymore questions.
