Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 170K miles

I can push start my car but it won't start sitting still. I changed the plugs and bought a new battery but this did no good. I was thinking oxygen sensors but I'm not sure so I'm here asking for your opinion. Thank you.

So does ur engine spin when u try to start it with the starter?Let's start there because being able to push start and not being able to start it by spining it over with starter makes no sense. Do u have any codes?

My engine turns over like it should and my plugs are firing. I can here my fuel pump running when I turn the ignition switch to the on position. Will the O2 sensor stop the car from starting?

No the o2 sensor will not cause the car not to start. So u have spark did u pull off two wires right next to each other on the coil crank it and watch for spark from tower to tower?U may have heard the fuel pump running but did u check what the actual fuel pressure was?Have u tried holding ur gas pedal to the floor while cranking it?U might have a bad coolant temp sensor flooding out the engine.
