I recently purchased a 1996 Saturn SL2. The car has 153,000 miles on it and runs like a dream. Two days after I purchased the car I brought it in for an oil change. Today, two days after the oil change, I noticed the oil light flicker for a moment. I pulled over to check the engine oil. When I checked the dipstick I couldn't get any reading whatsoever of oil. I immediately purchased a quart of oil and tried adding it the the car, but the engine wouldn't take even half a quart before it filled to the cap. The engine is still running perfectly, and the light hasn't come on again. It is the weekend, and the shop is closed until Monday so I can't bring the car back to ask them. Do you have any advice or explanation for what may be happenening? I would hate to ruin the engine by driving the car if it truly isn't getting oil.
