1995 Saturn SL2 shifts hard into overdrive

we have put 2 different transmissions into this car and both do the exact same thing them slam into overdrive at the moment we have to electronic plugs unplgged from the front of the tranny becuase if they are pluged in the car wont shift into 3rd could this be the computer? we have checked all the electical componets they all have juice and none of the wires are spliced and all have good conections please give me an answer
