FAN WILL NOT TURN ON - ENGINE RUNS HOT

just bought the used car but fan does not turn on to cool engine off. sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. checked the fuse already and the fuse is good. what else do i need to check or replace?

When u turn the a/c on does the radiator fan come on?also I would check the coolant temp sensor it's screwed into the head below where the upper radiator hose goes on.when u discount the connector look and see if it's corroded if it is then u will have to clean or replace it.the sensor cracks and leaks coolant into the conector.there under 20 i would replace the sensor if the fan turns on with the a/c on.if u replace it make sure u get a brass tip one.
