When I first start driving my 1998 Saturn I hear a sort of grinding/screaching noise which eventally quits after a block or two. I also don't hear it when the car is stopped. Sometimes, I don't hear it at all, but that is very seldom.

It seems to have started after I hit a pot hole with the front passenger-side wheel. My first thoughts was perhaps it was the brake drum starting to rub. But, the noise does not seem to come from that part of the car. But, its hard to tell where the noise is coming from other than up front.

Have you checked the wheel bearing? Could it be from the belt?
