My car is hard to start sometimes.Actually at times it won't start. I've been told to change fuel filter before turning to the pump. Today I was told by a parts store that I'd need to buy a pump also.He said the filter is located on the pump and both would have to be changed. Is this true.

No, that's not true...The fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator are one integral component of the returnless fuel injection system, and is located underneath the vehicle at the forward edge of the left side of the fuel tank. I believe the employee of the part store was thinking about the fuel sending unit, which is attached to the fuel pump module..
