Electrical problem
1996 Saturn SL1 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual unknow miles

ok, we removed the engine and transmission from the vehicle and replaced the clutch. we drove the vehicle for 2 months and it drove great. however, the dash lights, rpm guage, and speedometer now does not work. we replaced the factory radio a couple of weeks ago with a aftermarket one. now the car is shorting out the module/coil packs. we have replaced them 5 times. they run anywhere from minutes to days. this vehicle is an everyday use car so i must get it running. i checked the fuses, removed the radio, but it still is shorting the coil packs/module out. please help! thanks,
danny

Check for a grounded tach wire. Check the harness with an OHM meter, un plug it and ohm each wire, it should read zreo ohms. if it read OL there is a problem. There is a tech bulletin about it I will email to you. Let me know if it helps. ANY and all codes in the PCM would be of help, scan for codes and post results here please.
