Won't go in gear

It sounds like the shift linkage may have come off of the bottom end of the shifter. There is a plastic retainer that is suppose to secure the linkage to a ball stud on the shifter that may have worn out and allowed the linkage to fall off. You can move the shifter all you want, but you are not changing gears in the tranny. To check this, you'll have to remove the console and take a look. There should be two cables comiing from the tranny, make sure the bigger one is firmly attatched to the bottom of the shifter.
