1997 Saturn SL2, 4 cylinder with DOHC, automatic with air, 60,000 miles with service records. When idling at a stop sign I will turn on the air conditioning and the car stalls. The car will start with no problem. When driving and I turn on the air conditioning it will go on but the car sounds and feels like its going to stall. Of course, I turn the air off and all is fine. A new battery was installed because the old one died. But, the car was running fine for a week when this problem started. Sounds like a voltage regualtor. What do you all think?

You may want to take a look at the a/c compressor. Maybe it is trying to lock up and draging the engine down? You can have the charging system checked to make sure the alternator is puting out the correct ampridge.
