Saturn noise

I have a 2000 Saturn LS1 with a 5 speed. Sometimes when the car first begins to move, a loud constant squeal is heard that resembles a bad pully bearing. As soon as the brake pedal is depressed the noise stops and does not return until days later. I checked the brake pads and fluid and they are okay. As the noise is so intermittent, I don't want to take the car in to the shop. Is there anything I could check?

Sometimes a brake sensor/squealer can be out of place and cause the squeal. Check it if you did not when you looked @ the brakes.

Check the serp belt for cracks on the ribbed side. Remove the belt and try spinning the pulleys by hand.
