I typed a question about my 97 Saturn and clicked on the Preview icon assuming that after I previewed it I would be returned to the Submission icon to submit it, but it did not return me to the submit icon.
Did anyone get my question??

1997 Saturn SC2 1.9L DOHC 87K miles. My battery goes dead when I leave the car standing wo starting for a day or more. Had battery checked twice at Sears. It's good and passes their load tests etc. Alternator light does NOT come on after car starts and running after using jumper cables or battery charger for a few minutes to start it. I put an ammeter between + terminal and end of + cable. It draws 0.5-0.6 amps with nothing on or running. I think this is a high current draw for accessories eg. clock etc.??? I pull each fuse one at a time and found only one stops the current draw labeled 30A IP BATT. Don't know exactly what it serves for??? If I disconnect + battery wire after running the car and leave it off, then the car will start anytime or days afterwards without a problem.
My guess is something is drawing that current when the car is idle but I don't know what. Can you suggest how to find it?

You are on the right track. try the same test with doors shut when you are inside the car. See if any of the fuses in the panel inside make a difference

Hey Thanks Jack for the prompt response.
I certainly will test the inside panel fuses. Do you know exactly what that 30 amp IP BATT controls??
If you guys can help me solve this problem I promise I'll make another small donation. I don't want to bring this in to a dealer if I can help it. Thanks again!

It basically power the instrument panel junction block. If you want to see for yourself, go to repair manuals link at bottom of main forum page. Goes to mitchell On Demand, same software we use in shops. Then go to electrical, system wiring diagrams, power distribution. You will see there all that is in the circuit.
